Keeping Me Busy!

As I was packing for a trip today Amelia was trying to pull herself up on the fireplace for the first time. So I decided I needed to put the pad on it. I had purchased it a while ago, and was waiting to put it on. While I was installing it, she started to crawl for the first time!! Mind you she was going for the scissors I was using to install the fireplace pad. She is doing so many new things!! I am so excited for her, because I know she has been frustrated not being able to get around very well.

Also she has had 4 teeth that have not quite broken though for about a week now. I think today a few of them just barely showing! It is hard to tell because she won't let us look at them, she holds those lips tightly closed. But if I get her to laugh just right, then I can see them. :) If they do all come in soon, she will have 6 teeth, two on the bottom and four on the top!
Yikes!

A Comparison

Here are some pictures from when I was little, I will have to get Michael's up so you can compare his. I think Amelia looks like him as a baby.

The dress I am wearing my mom saved! So today I put Amelia in it and took some pictures.

She is a bit older then I was... it took me a while to get her in the dress and take the pictures, but other then that, you can see we looked a bit different :) Maybe the same eye shape... not too sure, what do you think?

Happy Birthday Dad!

My Dad came to visit us this last weekend! We had a good time with him and celebrated his birthday and Easter!

I made a Lemon cake by request, and it turned out not too bad! I was glad, because it was my first time making it :)

This was also my first attempt at an Easter Dinner! Turned out well... except the bacon baskets which ended up filling the kitchen with smoke! I thought they look pretty cool, but I told Michael I don't want to make them again, unless in was on a grill outside!

Here is Amelia in her Easter Dress, it was soo cute! I really liked the black and white, but I thought I should have a picture showing the cute pink flowers too, and that is why there are two of practically the same picture.

New Abilities!

This morning I thought to my self, wasn't Amelia just laying down... hum, I can't remember, because you see she was now sitting. So I watched her for a few minutes, and yup she learned how to go from laying down to sitting!

She also fed herself with a spoon yesterday! What a big girl she is growing up to be! We had her 9 month check up this week. All is well, and the doctor convinced me that she is able to eat just about anything, of course none of the choking hazards, or those other few things like peanuts and honey. So we have been feeding her different stuff. I have a hard time remembering what though :) Mommy brain. Today she had some of my yogurt for the first time. But I think cheerios beats them all in her opinion.

The doctor thought that she would probably crawl backwards first, then maybe walk around 13-14 months. That is just fine with me, because she will seem like such a grown up baby when she walks. I like her little! But I love her learning new things too. She first was getting into a push up position, like the picture below. Now, she does that then she hops like a little bunny onto her knees. No crawling though, just rocking :)

Here our friend Meghan and her daughter Elena came to visit. Amelia loved it! She loves other kids and can't get enough of them.

Amelia's cousin Cora came to visit, and she is always so sweet to Amelia.

So I thought I would make my own drop cloth and take some pics of Amelia, these were the best :)

I was typing on the computer, sitting in this chair. Amelia was beside me, and the I felt thumping, she somehow got all the way under the chair! Silly Girl.

Amelia's Great Grandma, and Aunt Gwen came to visit the other day, and they had soo much fun together. Amelia became attached to Gwen's zippers, she loves zippers. Gwen was nice and let her pull them up and down, and chew on them. Then her Great Grandma read her a book, and she sat there so well and looks at the book, then would look so sweetly up at Grandma, and then back at the book. So cute.

Here is the famous Amelia push up, she has been doing that for about 3 weeks now. Strong girl! I think she looks so small next to Michael.

Almost 9 months!

I can hardly believe all the growth Amelia has done this last few weeks. She seems to have gotten a lot longer, more chubby, more curious, more persistent, and more personality. She loves the key board of the computer and the camera with even more enthusiasm everyday.

She is now wearing 12 month clothes, I put an outfit on her this morning to see how much longer before she could wear it, and to my surprise it fit! (OK I had to roll the waist band of the pants just a little)

Food is getting more interesting too. She REALLY wants the spoon that I use feed her with, so last night I got out two, one for her and one for me, and we sometimes have to trade through the meal. She has the funniest faces when she tries new foods, but if we encourage her and act like she is eating something really yummy, then she seems to gain more interest in trying it again. So far she like to eat, oatmeal, green beans, prunes, squash, and cheerios. On the list of "we will keep trying" are peas, carrots, pears, peaches, and sweat potatoes.

She sits very well, but still no sign of crawling soon, she practices passing things from one hand to the other, and using her thumb and pointer finger to grab things like cheerios. She really likes to bang things that make loud sounds, like pots and pans and to take things out of baskets, or boxes. She is saying "ba ba" a lot. So I have been singing Baba Black Sheep to her and she likes that as well as the Baby Beluga song.

She sleeps usually around 11 hours at night, and wake up a couple times to eat. She takes about 3 half hour naps, and occasionally she will take two longer ones instead.

She has her two bottom teeth, and a dusting of hair on her head :) Just kidding, she is getting more hair in, but it is a very light blondish brown, and still pretty short.

Well I think that is a pretty good update on all her changes, she is wonderful! We love her lots!

Hands and Feet

I love our little Amelia, and I love her little hands, and feet. Feet are my favorite part of a little baby I think. But now that Amelia has two teeth... I think my new favorite thing is her two teeth showing when she smiles. But... that is hard to get a picture of. I will post one when I get a good picture of them. (If you click on the picture, it will get bigger.)

Rolling Woes

Okay so this really was a month ago, but oh well.

When rolling, one runs into some problems/road blocks:

Soft Books...

Large dinosaurs...

Tiny lions...

and gym bars.

But Amelia has not let those obstacles stop her, she is rolling like a pro now :)
